GENERAL INFORMATION

Does first aid training include CPR?
Yes, Provide First Aid does include CPR training. You can also opt to only complete HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation which, on completion, you will become proficient in providing CPR.
How much is CPR and first aid training?
Prices can vary depending on the course you decide to book, and whether it’s online or face-to-face delivery. For more information on pricing visit https://richriverfirstaid.com.au/courses/
How often do you have to do first aid training?
It’s recommended Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training is refreshed every 12 months and Provide First Aid is completed every three years. This is in line with the Safe Work Australia First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice.
Can you give first aid training if not trained?
In an emergency situation, you should render assistance whilst adhering to the scope of your training. If you’re not trained in First Aid, then you can always call Triple Zero (000) and they will guide you through what steps to take.
How long does CPR and first aid training take?
Provide First Aid training can be completed in as little as 4 hours through our 100% online delivery. Traditional face-to-face delivery takes one day to complete CPR Training can be completed in just over an hour.
What does first aid training consist of?
First Aid courses include both theory and practical demonstration of possible First Aid scenarios. First Aid situations require specific steps that must be followed to ensure the casualty is treated with optimum care at all times and to avoid causing any further damage.
Does first aid training expire?

A First Aid certificate doesn’t quite ‘expire’, but it does need to be refreshed at regular intervals to ensure the information is current and reflects best practice.

How can I do first aid training online?
We are one of Australia’s most innovative and responsible training organisations. We have carefully curated a first aid training pack that will be delivered to your door. This pack includes all the essentials as well as your very own training manikin.

BEFORE I BOOK MY CLASS

BEFORE I BOOK MY CLASS

Where are your training locations?
We have many training locations across Victoria – find out more on our Venues page.
Does CPR need to be renewed every year?
Rich River First Aid recommends, as per WorkSafe Victoria’s Compliance code for First aid in The Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months. First aid skills should be renewed every 3 years.
Is cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) included in the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course?
Yes, CPR is included in all our Provide First Aid course options.
Does the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course include asthma and anaphylaxis?
Yes, the HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course includes topics on asthma and anaphylaxis.
Is there an age limit to attend courses?
Yes. The minimum age to attend a course without an adult is 14 years, and children between 10 years and 13 years of age can attend accompanied by an adult. There is no maximum age.
I have a physical or intellectual disability, or a medical condition. Can Rich River First Aid support my participation in training?
Rich River First Aid will do everything we can to meet your individual needs. If you require assistance or have any questions about your participation in training, please contact us prior to booking or call our customer service team on 1300 046 381.

Some of our courses require students to complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the floor in order for a Statement of Attainment to be issued. Students will need to perform CPR (including strenuous physical compressions) while kneeling on the ground. A pillow can be used under your knees to perform these exercises, but they must be performed on the ground. If you can’t perform CPR on the ground you can still attend the course to learn first aid, but we won’t be able to issue you with a Statement of Attainment for the unit.

What is the difference between onsite and public training?
Onsite training can be conducted at your workplace/site/home at any time and can be further customised to suit your needs. This tends to be a preferred option when class sizes reach 8 or more.

Public training at one of our training venues may be a convenient option for smaller groups or individuals. We offer training 7 days a week, to be as convenient as possible.

How many First Aiders do you recommend are trained at my workplace?
In line with Worksafe Victoria guidelines, we recommend the following ratios for low and high-risk workplaces.

Low risk workplaces (offices, libraries and most retail shops, workplaces with low exposure to hazards):

  • one first aid officer for 10 to 50 employees
  • two first aid officers for 51 to 100 employees
  • an additional first aid officer for every additional 100 employees

Higher risk workplaces (those where employees may be exposed to hazards that could result in serious injury or illness that would require immediate medical treatment, which could include manufacturing plants, commercial kitchens, meatworks, motor vehicle and body panel workshops, medical research facilities, prisons and forestry operations):

  • one first aid officer for up to 25 employees
  • two first aid officers for 26 to 50 employees
  • an additional first aid officer for every additional 50 employees

BEFORE YOUR COURSE

BEFORE YOUR COURSE

I booked online but haven’t received a confirmation email. Where is it?
It takes 24 hours (on business days) for online bookings to be entered into the system and an email confirmation sent out to the participant’s email address.

Confirmations are emailed at the time of processing the booking if you are booking through our customer service centre.

How do I access the pre-learning for my course?
Some of our courses require students to complete online learning before the class.

If your class requires pre-learning to be completed, a unique link to your Student Readiness page and the pre-learning will be sent with your booking confirmation. The pre-learning includes a series of documents and questions to assess your knowledge. If you haven’t received your booking confirmation within 24 hours of booking please contact our Customer Service team via email bookings@richriverfirstaid.com.au or call on 1300 046 381.

Do I have to do the pre-learning?
If you select a course with a pre-learning component, it is mandatory for that course and must be completed by the student prior to attending the class. The pre-learning generally takes 2-3 hours to complete.
What is a USI and do I need one?
All students enrolling in nationally recognised training in Australia need to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI). A USI is an exclusive 10-digit number consisting of letters and numbers that will be used to link a student’s account to all of their training records.

To create your own USI or read more about it, go to: www.usi.gov.au. Once you have your USI, please register the number with us via the Student Readiness page in the link emailed to you with your booking confirmation.

I tried to register my USI but it says my class number is incorrect. What’s wrong?
There may be a discrepancy between how we have recorded your details and how they appear in your Unique Student Identifier (USI). These must be exactly the same. Please contact Customer Service team via email bookings@richriverfirstaid.com.au or call on 1300 046 381 and we can update your name in our system and register your USI.
Can I reschedule my training?
It is best to reschedule your course as early as possible and no later than 5pm the day before your training. There may be fees involved in cancelling or rescheduling your course.

For more complex enquiries please contact Customer Service team via email bookings@richriverfirstaid.com.au (Available Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 5:00PM AEST).

ON THE DAY OF TRAINING

ON THE DAY OF TRAINING

What happens if I am late to my class?
If you expect to be late to your class, we will need to reschedule you to a new class so that you don’t miss important learning and assessment. If you are running late please call our customer service team on 1300 046 381 to reschedule your training.
What are my options if I cannot make it on the day?
Rescheduling: if you contact us on the same day of the training before 5pm, you may reschedule without incurring transfer fees. You have 3 months from that date to rebook, after which you will forfeit the training funds credited.

Cancelling: if you cancel 5 days before the training date you can receive a full refund.

What should I bring on the day?
You may want to bring a notepad and pen to take your own notes.

For some of our classes, you will need to bring your own smart device such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop to your class. The device needs to have mobile data and be fully charged. You will use the device to answer some multiple-choice questions and minimal data will be used.

Do also bring snacks and your lunch.

Can I bring along my child?
There are compulsory physical activity components to the course. There is no provision for the child/children to be supervised when the participant is engaged in the course work. The Trainer and the other participants cannot be expected to share in the care of the child/children.

Thus taking all of the above in consideration, it is in the best interest of all in the Training Room that no child/children should be in the training room during the training hours.

What should I wear?
We recommend you wear comfortable, casual clothes and long pants as you will be kneeling on the floor and will also be required to act as a patient and lie on the ground to be put into the recovery position.
Will lunch be provided?
Lunch is not provided as part of the course. Depending on the training centre location, there may be vending machines or local cafés nearby.
Are there breaks during the course?
Yes, there is a morning tea break, lunch break of 45 minutes and afternoon tea break for a full day course.

AFTER MY CLASS

AFTER MY CLASS

When will I receive my certificate?
Certificates and Statements of Attainment are emailed out automatically providing you have registered your USI with Rich River First Aid.

In most cases, you will receive an email within 24 hours of completing your class.

Please check your junk mail or spam folders as it can sometimes end up in there.

If you are still having issues receiving a copy of your certificate, please contact
Customer Service team via email bookings@richriverfirstaid.com.au or call on 1300 046 381.

When will my USI transcript be updated?
We are a Fee for Service RTO and report annually to NCVER which then updates USI.

Transcripts reflect the training activity reported by us as an RTO into the national VET collections, so outcomes are not updated in transcripts in real-time.

Reporting is quarterly for Government Funded training and annually for most Fee for
Service training activity and for data submitted via Boards of Study for school students.

Hence, any training undertaken in the year 2020 will reflect on your transcript in the coming year 2021.

To avoid confusion, training graduates should rely on documentation issued by their RTO for recent training pending regular national collection uploads.
