Course Content

This course covers child specific first aid in many high-risk areas such as anaphylaxis and asthma as well as common injuries and resuscitation. The Australian Children’s Education & Care Authority (ACECQA) has endorsed this course as meeting their requirements for anaphylaxis, asthma, and first aid training.

The course topics include the DRSABCD action plan. cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid principles, asthma and anaphylaxis.

Prerequisites

Mandatory online pre-assessment before attending a face-to-face practical session.

Statements of Attainment

On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
  • HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

Certificate Validity

Rich River First Aid recommends, as per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed every 3 years and resuscitation (HLTAID001/009), asthma, and anaphylaxis skills are renewed every 12 months. Our HLTAID004/012 continuous learning program enables participants to update all certificate competencies every 12 months.

Mandatory online pre-assessment then face-to-face practical session.

Additional Information

A successful outcome for this statement of attainment will be determined by a range of different assessment methods including a questionnaire, observation of simulated and practical activities etc.

You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.
