Course Content

A comprehensive first aid course covering a range of topics to enable participants to confidently manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. It covers the most common first aid injuries and illnesses.

The course topics include the DRSABCD action plan and responding to emergency situations, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), burns, asthma, anaphylaxis, sprains and strains.

Prerequisites

This course requires online mandatory completion of the pre-assessment before the course date. If the online mandatory pre-assessment is not completed prior to the course date, students will not be permitted to enter the class and will not receive certification.

Statements of Attainment

On successful completion of this course you will be issued a statement of attainment in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Certificate Validity

Rich River First Aid recommends, as per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, that first aid skills are renewed every 3 years, and resuscitation skills are renewed every 12 months. Our HLTAID003 continuous learning program enables participants to update all certificate competencies every 12 months.

Delivery Mode(s)

Mandatory online pre-assessment then face-to-face practical session.

Additional Information

A successful outcome for this statement of attainment will be determined by a range of different assessment methods including a questionnaire, observation of simulated and practical activities etc.

You will be required to demonstrate CPR on a manikin on the floor.
